The Pirates of Penzance Bronx Theatre reviews
Van Morrison Concert was Boring!!!
At the request of The Pirates of Penzance, the concert started promptly at 8:05 with no opening act, and all concession stands closed at 8:00. Also enforced were their requests for no cameras allowed. The band was good, and The Pirates of Penzance still has a good voice but no personality. I couldn't believe that someone who had written so many wonderful songs only chose to play 2 of them (Brown Eyed Girl and Dancing in the Moonlight). They played for 1 1/2 hours with no interaction with the audience, and all the songs sounded the same. In the end, he left the stage during the last song (Gloria) without waving goodbye or thanking the fans for paying big bucks for the tickets, no encore, nothing. As we walked out, I heard several people comment that this was the most boring concert they had ever been to. We go to a lot of concerts, and although the tickets were about double what we usually pay, I can only rate the concert as mediocre. Love the Santa Barbara Bowl, but would not pay to see The Pirates of Penzance again!
